Biota

Biota refers to the entirety of plant and animal life found in a particular region. The bioplastic material, created by cooking plants, represents the wholeness of vegetation, territory, and nourishment. Rooted in the belief that the climate crisis and post-human scenarios have fundamentally transformed art and human experience, a narrative has been shaped that embraces biota.

In this story, without hierarchy, human and non-human lifeforms, human-made objects, food, culture, and mythology are layered upon each other. Beginning in the forest with bioplastic collages, the narrative unfolds through a coexistence of hybrid beings nourished by the sun, and the unity of bees symbolizing collective life.

Eventually, the tale reaches the present day, when the mythological figure of clumsy Cupid topples the beehive and flees from what belongs to the Earth, resulting in estrangement. This allegory, where the pre-human and post-human coexist, transforms not only in meaning but also in material.
